Staffordshire Aiming High for Disabled Children Programme

Aiming High is a government programme providing additional services and short breaks for disabled children in Staffordshire aged 0-20 years.

It has been developed with a particular focus on the following groups of children and young people up to the age of 20 whom:

  • have challenging behaviour linked to a disability
  • have complex health needs associated with a disability
  • have a life limiting condition
  • have a palliative condition
  • are technology dependent children requiring specialist care
  • have a severe physical impairment who require moving and handling
  • are on the Autistic Spectrum (who have severe learning difficulties, or behaviour which is challenging)
  • have a sensory impairment (for example hearing or visual impairment)
  • live in Staffordshire and attend a special school in or out of the city

What do I need to do to book the activities?

To book your activities call Crossroads on 01782 268391. The phone line is open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

Please note, if you have not accessed the Aiming High Programme in the past, please contact us on 01782 268391 to arrange an assessment , prior to making a booking.

Transport and Support to enable access to activities

Crossroads will provide transport to children who are unable to get to activities by any other means, for all of the activities listed. Crossroads staff can provide support to enable children to access activities.


In the event that your child is unable to attend an allocated activity, please ensure that you inform us as soon as possible.

Failure to inform us that your child cannot attend an activity may jeopardise your child’s place on the Aiming High Scheme.

If you need to cancel an activity please contact the Aiming High booking line on 01782 268391 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.

The Lucy Faithfull Foundation, a national child protection charity working to prevent child sexual abuse, is currently rolling out an initiative through its Stop it Now! project, which aims to provide parents, carers and other responsible adults with the knowledge and confidence they need to keep children safe from sexual abuse.
